Tim Buss has been working with antibodies since the early 1990's, first in Sir Greg Winter's laboratory at the Medical Research Council in Cambridge, England, before moving to the United States to work in Jeff Foote's laboratory at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle. Winter and Foote are both world renowned for their pioneering work in antibody therapeutics, phage display and antibody humanization.
After moving to San Diego he worked at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, studying and adapting antibodies targeting tumor markers. At the biotechnology company Ambrx he generated several unique antibodies which he humanized some of which are now advancing through early stage development and pre-clinical. He is currently working as a consultant to several biotechnology companies and non-profit organizations helping them with antibody and other protein engineering projects. |
Antibody DevelopmentChoice of antigen and screening method is critical when developing your own FTO antibody. I can help you choose the best method to immunize and screen your monoclonals. Using phage display? I can help with that as well, having used synthetic (naive) and immunized phage libraries.

Antibody HumanizationAnalyzing your antibody sequence and determining the best framework to use as the basis for your humanized antibody is difficult. Having over 20 years experience in this field, I can help you quickly generate your initial humanized constructs.

Antibody ExpressionExpressing and purifying a recombinant protein is often challenging, particularly for antibody fragments. Having experience in both E.coli and mammalian expression systems, I can help you discover the best system to express and purify your protein.
